Gallery Collection - An exhibition of paintings by Shuvendu Sarkar. About The Artist: Shuvendu Sarkar - Born in 1967 Shuvendu Sarkar did his graduation from Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata in 1990. Having developed a realistic approach to city scaping, more or less in the water colours tradition of West Bengal (India), he makes good use of the light and shadow chiaroscuro in his works. The scenes Shuvendu paints are of course of Urban Kolkata ? a metropolis whose dense and high-rise, majestic buildings and the endless lanes that run through them cater extensively to our sense of wonder and aesthetics. He has exhibited extensively in Kolkata, Delhi and Mumbai more often with congenial groups like Academy of Fine Arts, (Kolkata), Jehangir Art Gallery (Mumbai) and Academi of Fine Arts and Literature, New Delhi. He has also participated in group shows at Nehru Centre, London (UK), New York Art Gallery, U.S.A, Museum Gallery (Mumbai) and Birla Academy, Kolkata(West Bengal).
